According to the Georgia Drug and Narcotics Agency the number of deaths related to prescription drug overdoses is now higher than deaths related to illicit drug overdoses in Georgia.

The Office of National Drug Control Policy says that abuse of prescription painkillers now ranks second, only behind marijuana, as the Nation's most prevalent illegal drug problem.
